Module 5: Finishing touches and process review
In Module 5, we’re going over the final steps to finish our mix: adding effects and preparing to export our project.

Intro to creative effects
Adding effects is a super exciting stage of the mixing process! It’s where our music really starts to come to life, and sound much closer to what the finished end product will sound like.
This video is an introduction to several different types of creative studio effects you can play around with (such as reverb and delay), and how to mix them properly into your track.

In this video, I apply creative reverb techniques working within the musical context of our sample mix project.
The master track
The master track is a tricky area to work with during the mix-that’s why mastering engineers are often a separate technical position with specialized gear and expertise. This video goes over master track techniques: what they are, how to use them, things to try, and why it's important to go slow when making adjustments in this area.
Finishing our mix! Exporting our sample mix project
Now that the finishing touches have been made to our sample mix project, we're ready for the final step: exporting our multitrack audio project down into a two channel stereo file that can be played back on a standard audio player. This video goes over the techniques associated with the export process.
The music production workflow, revisited
Since we've spent so much time inside of each course module digging deep into some pretty detailed technical minutia, it's important to take some time to zoom back out and put the pieces together.
This video revisits the big-picture music production workflow we talked about way back in Module 1, but now adding the additional context of new information we’ve learned during the course.
Module 5 Action Steps
In this video, I give you the Action Steps for this module. Put the finishing touches on our sample mix project on your own, making whatever creative effects choices you think best. Once you're happy with it, bounce the project, making sure to remember some of the technical checks I've shown you. Try to follow each of my exporting steps, in order, as I've demonstrated.
I also provide some additional free multitrack resources, so you can continue to practice on your own with a variety of different creative material.
