Fall portfolio updates

It’s been a busy summer/early fall! Here’s a few projects I’ve been working on inside the mastering studio and on stage.

In the studio

Keeperess “idle”

My amazing music production student Tabitha just released her first single and music video recording under the name Keeperess: both produced herself! Tabitha has been a fantastic student, she picked up on everything super quickly, and it’s great to see her spreading her wings and releasing music (and music videos) all on her own.

TCOD “my body is an aeroplane and my home is the shore”

Local Phoenix, AZ legends The Cause of Depression released this EP back in September: mastered by me and recorded by Skylar Bankson. A fascinating mix of post-emo and abstract textures, and well worth a listen.

The Naughty Limes “Who's to Blame”

New client Donny Limes is making a go of it with his new band, and it was a pleasure to master one of his lead singles. So nice to get to master some acoustic music! Mastered by me, and recorded by Skylar Bankson.

On stage

I have several live performances coming up:

Oct. 10: MusicaNova Mahler’s 1st Symphony

It’s a real full-circle moment for me, getting to play this symphony again as principal in the trumpet section. Mahler’s 1st was one of my first big classical calls, getting to play in Carnegie Hall with a major London orchestra touring the US. So, playing this same piece almost 20 years later is an honor. We’re doing a “new original version”, closer to how this piece was performed at the first premiere. It’ll be just the fifth performance ever of his particular version worldwide.

Oct 23-25: Autumn Cooper recording sessions

I’ll be in the studio handling the brass for Autumn Cooper’s latest EP, working alongside a great band and a fantastic songwriter. Closed to the public, but keep an eye out for this release in a few months.

Nov. 8 Phoenix Brass Collective

In early November, I’ll be joining Phoenix Brass Collective once again for their fall show as part of the Pinnacle Presbyterian concert series. Pinnacle is a great acoustic space for brass, and hearing a full large brass ensemble in this hall will be super impactful.
