Mask of the Sun

Portfolio-wise, you’ll mostly see my mastering studio work here. But, I’m very pleased to be able to highlight some of my recent trumpet work on this recent single by Joshua Hill called Mask of the Sun.

This tune started out as part of the soundtrack for a small independent short film out in LA, and is now being re-released as a single.

This was a really fun one!  We recorded this right in the middle of the pandemic as a remote overdub session. Josh sent me his score and mockups of the string parts, and I recorded my horn parts to match after some chats.

A lot can be done working in remote sessions when everyone’s got the experience to do it well. And, remote sessions can be a more cost-effective approach than bringing a large group together in-person, especially if there’s travel involved.
